A program built around Maurice Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin, this program explores how music has so often been composed as a direct reflection of the state of the world the composers found themselves in. From tragedy to reflection, music was often centered around a strong need to comment on society.

Axes Quartet
Founded in 2018, AXES Quartet is an international renowned saxophone quartet instigated by saxophonist Niels Bijl.
Currently the AXES Quartet is based in Victoria, Australia, and is driven by the endless enthusiasm and experience of some of Australia’s finest saxophonists: four dear friends, sharing the stage with what they do best, performing their favourite works for saxophone quartet, selected from nearly 200 years of saxophone quartet repertoire.
